What I'm up to

Sorry I haven't been posting on her much. I've been busy with work and the webcomic (which is not on hiatus anymore!- Go read!).
As of right now, I'm working on a challenge my friend and I have given each other to work on our writing. It was originally supposed to be 30 pages of a written story, but I started drawing my characters and then I couldn't write it anymore. Luckily I have the greatest friend ever and she's letting me make a comic instead. It'll be 20-25 pages and she expects the artwork to be dazzling.
I told her no promises.

I'll post up some pictures later once I have a solid base on how I want my characters to look. As to what it's about, it'll be some of my folklore/fairytale/mythology/occult stuff that I'm drawn to, so I'm excited. Here's hoping I can finish in time!

Etsy Store

I opened an Etsy store:) I only have three listings for now, but check it out if you want. Just click here.

Texas ComicCon 2012

You know all the polymer clay charms and jewelry I made so far? I packed it all up and took it to Texas ComicCon this last weekend. I've been gearing up for it since early February, but I didn't really tell anyone (sorry guys!). This was my first con EVER so I was plenty freaked out and stressing out over the small stuff, but I got there and conquered! I had a booth selling my polymer clay charms and earrings and some superhero prints that I made (and a poster or two).

My booth on the first day

I don't care if anyone doesn't get the reference other than my siblings, I love my poster.

Special thanks to my sister for helping make all of this possible:)
I only stayed two days of the 3 to give my brother and me some free time to adventure around the city on the last day, but it was still a really successful test drive of my work. Here are some of the prints I took with me:

If you guys are wondering about the Keep Calm poster, it's a reference to a cartoon we used to watch, Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot.

I had tons of fun and it was an overall great experience. I'm gearing up for another possible Con in Austin just in case. I have a good amount of charms left and supplies to make more as well so I'm already leaning towards yes. Thanks a bunch, Texas ComicCon, I had a blast!

Live forever!

So today I just found out another one of my heroes has died. Ray Bradbury was pretty much the figure that solidified my love of the story and telling stories and now he's gone. To ease away the sniffles, I made a tribute to him:

I remember when my sister brought home the collection of his short stories and how I stayed up late many nights reading them. He's an amazing writer, a greater storyteller, and a visionary for the ages. I would like to thank him for the books, the characters, for helping me find my creative path and for being an inspiration for many generations. Rest in peace, Mr. Bradbury. You will always live forever.

Life Drawing: INK

Today we finally started with the ink/marker section of class. Here's the results of day 1:

Later, we did a few fun things with our new material. First, we gave our model robotic parts...
Then we made her part animal...
and lastly, we made her zombified.:)

That's an eyeball hanging out, by the way.
I've worked with ink before and I absolutely love it. Yeah, it is not forgiving at all, but the lines you can  make with it are completely worth it. Line weight is my favorite thing about art and markers are the best to use to get a real sense of manipulation of it. So in short, today was an awesome day.
We'll have one more day of this, which is the sad thing, but I'm hoping we will do more of the "imaginative" drawings again.

New things- Polymer clay

So for the past couple of weeks, besides working on my webcomic, I've been dabbling with polymer clay. So far, I LOVE IT. It's really fun and easy to work with and I thought I would suck at it, but I was wrong. I'm making a bunch of things to sell so here are some pictures:

All of the clay I have has put me on a jewelry kick. I've ordered even more supplies from Amazon and will get more clay soon:)
Earrings will be $5-$6 dollars
Necklaces will be $7 (chain included)
