We're still on flowers and today is the magnolia! Today is going to be a short post so I won't ramble on. Here's the first:
And the next one:
This one was good ol' fashioned pencil and ink. I missed it, so I decided to go back to it. See ya' tomorrow for the last day.

Don't you think some flowers, pretty daisies, would lighten up the room?: PSC Day 4
New subject! And it is flowers. First up is the ever popular rose. From symbolism to even pop songs (the one from Seal automatically comes to mind), roses have been everywhere and are used for nearly everything...especially songs.
Now, I've drawn roses before, but they all have the same method about them. The method consisting of, "draw-a-bunch-of-curves-until-it-looks-flower-like-and-color-it-red-method."
Surprisingly, I couldn't find many good photos that I liked for roses. We do have the good fortune of living in a neighborhood where there are a ton of different flowers and also having a neighbor who grows them among a vast assortment of other beauties in her yards, but I'm too shy to go over and ask for one. And going over there just to stare at her flowers seem a bit shifty and creepy for someone to do.
Anyway, I turned my direction to web for reference and found a few I could work with. The first day results:
After just drawing these two today I got bored. This was harder than I thought for some reason. Maybe I'm not thinking about it the right way, but hey not too shabby. Let's try to push it even further with the top one:
Much better. Now with the second one!:
This was rushed. Had to do some chores real fast so I gave it the minimum of my attention. I'll definitely be using roses again in my work. They are quite lovely.

Personal Summer Challenge: Day 3
Final chapter of this period! It's suburban setting!
Really proud of this one. I've even gotten the hang of using guidelines and perspective with this one. Unlike the last two days, I used a stock photo for reference to make this on Pse. I didn't use it underneath my composition, but had it to the side in my viewer like I'm used to. First, I made my blue lines according to the picture I picked:
And yes, I'm aware that one of my mainlines is going the wrong direction. For some reason, when I looked at the picture, I thought my direction was right. Oh well, I ignored it anyway. Layer two was my inking layer, still looking back for reference:
And then finally, after adding some detail with a third layer, I finished! Yay me! This last one was a fun one to do. And for a little treat, I did a quick color one for you all:
Color is one thing I've singled out to work on for the summer, so forgive me if the above photo hurts your eyes. It'll have a bunch of periods of its own where I'll get over my "fear" of it. Until then, I'll polish my black and white line work.

Look Ma'! NO HANDS!
So, I'm blogging. Actually blogging. No WASH assignments, no other classwork, just me, my computer, my art, and you. I am so sorry.
While I'm still getting the hang of "talking" to a "person" through this, I am starting to get more confident in myself as an artist. I can do stuff. I can draw, I can paint, I can even write a bit (I said a bit)! Most of all, I'm blogging! And not just regular crap either. I have PICTURES!
I guess this is a post to all those who encouraged me and kept me going and help me start this. Don't worry. I'll keep going. I promise. Oh, and thanks guys. You're awesome. I love you all.
No, seriously. I do.

Personal Summer Challenge: Day 2
Today's challenge was the city:
These were done with Photoshop Elements. Aaaaaaaaand I kind of feel like I cheated with these. I used the Shift key. A lot. For you art-illiterate people out there it turns this:
Into this:
Well, not really that, but it makes straight lines and diagonal lines way easier and cleaner to make. Whether I did actually cheat or not, I made buildings! I hate buildings. I usually draw people all the time, so this was a well-needed departure in order for me to be well-rounded.
Hopefully, not this round by the end of the summer. Need to start working out soon. Sitting in a chair all day having Hot-Pocket breaks is not healthy.

Personal Summer Challenge: Day 1
I'm getting lazy. I don't like it. Lately, I've gotten a really bad case of Artist Block and found myself doing nothing for weeks. But, with the help of my friends and family, I have set up a challenge to keep myself in the habit of drawing and also to practice with my new computer software.
I will be drawing something everyday for the rest of the summer, be it objects, people, anything to keep me "in shape". Some will be pencil, pen and ink, and some will be on the computer, or a collaboration of both. Whatever will keep me busy. My subject matter will change every three days, so for each period I will focus myself on that subject or, if I choose to, on the elements and/or principles I need to work on.
This three day period will be cityscapes/landscapes. Today's topic: rural/country!
These were done pretty quickly on Sai. I just got it so I will be testing the waters for a while, so to speak. So far, I like the ink tool :) though the airbrush is making a close second.

COMIC TO COME SOON!....not
I recently bought an new art program my second semester of school called Manga Studio Debut. At first, I hated it. I couldn't use any of the "special features" that it said I would be able to use. Every time I tried to make a speech bubble or even look at the textures it would close and say an unexpected error...yadda, yadda, you suck and I'm going to close now. Kthnxbye!! The error was worse than the Swirly Circle of Death.

| F- YOU, JOBS! |
It wasn't until I decided I'd do all my speech bubbles and panels by hand that I realized it was pretty awesome to use for drawing and it encouraged me to actually start my first webcomic.
I had two pages done and then found an update for Manga Studio that was supposed to fix the problems I was having, except I won't know until I get my CD out from the rest of my things in storage which is back at school. So fail on my part. Since I can't use it as of now, I have to transfer my work to another program :( I am sooooooooooo going to miss that brush tool. It was amazing.
