Here's another for you guys: The Ember Hart.
These deer are usually seen around northern America( though they do migrate south) and parts of Europe, only during the Witching Hour. Quite a rare sight, these deer are elusive as they are dangerous. Hunters are often lead to their demise trying to catch the ghostly things for a chance to harness the fire they posses (which is said to heal anything or possibly grant eternal life). Various Native American tribes worship these creatures as spirit guides and guardians of the wild. There are special ceremonies to the deer to grant them a safe hunt and travel.
These deer are often unpredictable so it is wise to stay away from them and make no attempt to approach.
This was done in Pse (Kudzu Kreeper was in Manga Studio). I did it pretty fast so it's not my best work. I'm definitely going to do some more angles of these bad boys though. I've never drawn a deer since first grade!
I might have another one of these creatures done soon so be on the lookout!

Chinny Creatures
Hey you guys!! I'm back again with some random art!!
Sorry about the whole not posting for a good month, but I think I finally have school and work balanced out so I finally think I can post things again. Irregularly, but more often.
So you all know that I have a fairytale addiction and love anything mythical or just plain weird, right? Cool. I've been taking it a few steps forward: I started making some of my own creatures. I only have about, what, three?, so far, but I really like it. I'll show you the one I've been trying to get out of my head for the past month.
These are called Kudzu Kreepers or Swamp Sloths, on account of their slow, "creeping" speed (They are sometimes called Bog Bears, depending on where you're from. The alliteration is a complete coincidence, I did not do it on purpose!). They are communal creatures, staying together in "families" and only travel long distances when needed. Kreepers are silent and very shy, but are not aggressive, though there have been stories about them drowning or strangling humans with theirs vines if they themselves are threatened. Not recommended as pets, as they are known to grow taller than houses.
I've been out of town a lot recently and down here in the south there's a plant called kudzu vine.It is in no way native to the Americas, actually it hails from Japan. Introduced in 1876, the vine has pretty much taken over the southern US. It can grow a foot a day and can have roots extending eight feet into the ground and is tough to kill with pesticides. While driving, I saw this almost everywhere (though it was far and few between, thank goodness) and I loved it. It's pretty hard not to imagine it as a creature the way it blankets the trees.
As always I start with the understructure:
Then the ink outline. I made it like a blanket was covering it:
Then the greys:
And voila! A Kreeper.
I used the prehistoric Giant Sloth as my animal basis for this creature. It had the small head, long neck combo I thought of originally.
Do I like this? Yes, I most certainly do! It was fun and refreshing, seeing how I haven't really drawn anything for a good two weeks (I know! BLASPHEMY!)
Leave comments and stuff. It's late people, goodnight!

Character Sheet Update
So here's how far I finished it:
I just inked the ones I liked and the ones that he'll be doing most often. I put them on their own page too:)
I realized then that my character will be relying mostly on body language at first, not really facial expressions so I did some practice with that in accordance to Brandon (he finally has a name!! After two years!).
I'll update some more later. It's getting close to quittin' time here. Sigh, work at eight.
Leave comments and whatnot.

Whoops
So tomorrow came and went there, now didn't it?
Sorry again! But I was working on something! ....and then went to hang out with my friends all day. Gosh. why do I have a life outside art?! Here, I'll show you what I've been up to:
It's this neat little page I found on DA for learning to draw your characters consistently. Natuarally I jumped at this opportunity to practice my projects so I downloaded it. I only have the blue down, but I did get pretty far, if not all perfect.
I'm aiming to have this done by tonight so look for it then. I'll clean up a few because they suck. I guess I'll see you then.

Same song, second verse
I'M BACK MOTHA-- Hahahaha, just joking:)
Oh how I missed you guys! I promise to never leave you alone again! I don't trust you.
Anywho, I'm still getting the hang of classes over here on this end, hence the abandonment. I'll be starting the actual art classes, Drawing 1 and Foundations in Digital Art, this semester, I'm so happy!! I can't wait to start!
I had to drop Life Drawing 1 though because Drawing was a prerequisite for it. That's a thing for next semester. I'm kinda glad that's the way it happened because I'm pretty sure I would have been very uneasy in there...
So far, it's been a pretty "meh" week. Nothing too good, nothing too bad either, it's just......there. Hopefully the semester gets better soon. Good news is I've made a new friend and she's awesome. Can't wait to hang out again with the gang.
So you're probably wondering, "Chinedu, where's the artwork? I don't come here to hear about your life!" and to that I say, ".....why you insensitive little-"
Again, joking. I'll get back to drawing once I get everything balanced. The only days I have truly free are the weekends, so my updates might go down to once a week. Ahh!!! I know! SCARY! I already have about three little projects going or in mind. Don't worry!
So with that, I bid thee good day! I'll see you...tomorrow?
I'll think of something.
Hahaha......I am.
Later guys! :D

Last post for now!
Hey guys!
I'll be out shopping and getting some last minutes supplies for school today and getting ready for tomorrow so today is the last post until further notice! I'll miss you guys, but I'll be settling in back in Huntsville for another year of college! Whoo! I'm currently working on something, but I don't think it'll make today.
To all my friends leaving as well: Have fun, be safe, and please pay attention in class.
Bye everyone!

Dark times ahead
I'm in a dark mood, not like depressed, but, "I want to draw dead bodies and monsters," kind of dark mood. So I decided to visit some of my favorite stories by Edgar Allan Poe.
Poe is one of my favorite authors ever. I love the way he writes and love the dark nature of it. I just wish he didn't have such a crappy life and supposedly die on the date of my birthday (why do all bad things in history mostly happen in October?!).
The story I chose is one of my favorites, though quite a disturbingly gruesome one. It's the Maasque of the Red Death.
I added a different back to it the second time around because I didn't really like my excuse for crosshatching so I changed it:
An then I remembered that I wanted to add a texture or pattern to my art for a long time so I quickly scrambled around on Google and found a good pattern that I duplicated for a wallpaper and blended into the back giving me the third one:
The third is my favorite. I need to find more patterns. That's it! Leave comments!

Bleh...
So it's been an incredibly slow week for me here. There's a shortage of creative juices on my end and I apologize for all the crappy (and late) stuff on here for the past 3 days.
School is starting next week and so far the only productive thing I've done is pack all my things and get my clothes washed. That's good and all, but it wasn't art. I promised myself that I would draw everyday, which I have, but I haven't been having fun with it lately. Maybe I was just hung up on something, I dunno', but I needed a reset. And what better way to do that than with my comic books.
I don't know why, but whenever I run out of ideas I have a "reset" picture. A long time ago it used to be one of my original characters, just back in high school it was a self-portrait I used to reset. Nowadays, it's Batman or Batman characters.
So here's me, resetting:
Okay. I feel much better now. :)
See you tomorrow! WITH ARTWORK!
I'm feeling kinda' dark...I hope you guys like Poe:)

COLOR DAYS!!! PURPLE: Day 5
I really don't know what's going on.....I'm out of ideas, all over the place and my Photoshop Elements isn't working right. I'm thinking about re setting it because it's just annoying me right now. My brushes are all crappy and I hate it.
Here's something purple while I figure this out.
Man, this sucks.

COLOR DAYS!!! PURPLE: Day 4 :)
Hello, hello, hello:) I'm back again. Don't worry! All problems have been fixed! It was a program I had downloaded from the internet that was messing up everything do I uninstalled it and now I have my computer back! Yay!
On that note, today's drawing will be something new instead of other characters. I've been very un-original in my work so far (except in my sketchbook) so I felt I needed a good boost.
So now I'm over 2 hours late with nothing....here's what I had.
Yay? I'm so out of ideas right now. I don't feel like finishing it...I don't even know what I was doing today...Oh well at least it's purple right? My mind is on packing my things to go back to school so I'm not really...yeah. I know this is crap. I'll make it up to you tomorrow. Sorry!

Heads up for tomorrow
I'll be out of town tomorrow (Sunday) for a good while. Possibly the whole day. I may or may not post...I dunno. I think I'll just get everything ready though. Just wanted you guys to know!
COLOR DAYS!!! PURPLE: Day 3
Remember yesterday?Well we're going back. I have to do Hunchback justice:) To The Hunchback of Notre Dame!
Now, a long time ago, when I was little, I saw this movie and it. was. AWESOME. This movie had everything: compelling story, amazing, human characters, heart-wrenching emotional drama, some good jokes and some of the most amazing music ever in the history of Disney. Not to mention it had the best villain ever to strike fear into the hearts of children.
I know, I know. For those of you that went back and read the actual book, this movie is sugarcoated fluff. I don't want to ruin it for the rest of you, but the actual story by Victor Hugo is very dark, people die horrible deaths and there is no happy ending for pretty much anyone.
Now from a classic lit lover, I can see how you guys are upset, but you can't really bash the Hunchback movie for not getting the facts right. IT'S A FREAKIN KIDS FILM. You can't stay true to the facts and still be kid-kosher, just not possible (especially what went on in that book....oh man).
Keeping that in mind, Hunchback was a brave departure from the princess stories they had been doing and a well welcomed change. And to welcome it back, I made Esmerelda!
Okay for some reason my Pse was acting weird today and my lines came out horrible. I tried changing to brush and the settings, but nothing worked. So I'm not happy with this. Scanning it was also different because of the new sketchbook my brother got me. It's book bound and I like spiral bound better because you can fold the cover over and just place what you want face down. Can't do that with this one so I'm re-learning how.
Leave comments and I'll see you tomorrow with....something.....yeah.

COLOR DAYS!!! PURPLE: Day 2
It's a Disney day!!! Yay childhood!! I love Disney movies, don't you? Though I'm not like most people my age. When looking back at the classic movies that were made, I made a stunning revelation: I don't like about half of them.
Some movies, such as Mulan and , my all time favorite- The Hunchback of Notre Dame (to which I know all the songs from and will be happy to sing them to you), have found their way into my good graces and I have cherished them. But many others, nearly ALL the Disney princesses, I kinda' hate. With a burning passion.
Wait I lied.....I like some of them.
The earlier movies didn't really do it for me, but later on I found something to love. Summer 1997. Enter.....Hercules!
This is second on my all time favorite Disney movie list, right after Hunchback. It had a fun story, believable characters, and music to love. So I decided to pay homage to my childhood, as well as yours, with a little visit from one of the most memorable Disney girls- Megara.
Megara was different. She didn't sing(except for one song, which was awesome), she didn't have a troupe of magical, adorable little woodland creatures with her, nor did she play the part of the "damsel in distress" (see what I did there?!). She was a woman with curves, appeal, and she knew it. She just leaked awesome.
Hopefully I did her justice with my picture:
One thing I was debating was the question of her waist. Do I make it as small as it was or do I make it entirely my own? I went with the "me" road and gave her some room for her organs. Not much though.
The dress went through many shades of purple before I could get it right (and since my computer was out for those days, it took even longer), but it came out okay. Would I do another one if I could? Yes. Will I? I dunno, stop bothering me.
That's it for today! Leave comments! See you tomorrow!

OOO! Work it, girl! |

Rock that hair, WARRIOR PRINCESS! |
I like that you're black, but your character was disappointingly stale. Sorry sistah. |

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!! COLOR DAYS!!! PURPLE: Day 1
COULD IT BE???? COULD MY COMPUTER WORK TODAY????? Just in case, I'm posting today.
Hey guys, sorry about that, but without any further ado,........WELCOME TO PURPLE WEEK!!! YAAAAAY!!! And because I didn't post for about two, three days I am doing two extra purple things. It's not a punishment. I drew in my sketchbook while I was out, but I just wanted to make up for it. We cool?
So I decided to kick this off like I did orange a while back: Scooby-Doo style. You can pretty much guess what that means:
It's Daphne!! Now Velma has a buddy! I was thinking about finishing the gang, but I said I'll do the whole team later when I'm not as restricted with color (like I ever follow that). Just as fun as the others, Daphne was drawn in my sketchbook and then scanned in. I reeeeeeeally liked how this turned out:)
Well that's it for now. I really did miss you guys!! I hope I can post tomorrow too! See ya'! Leave comments, blah, blah, blah. Later.

COLOR DAYS!!! ORANGE: Day 3
It's the last day of orange!!! Oh, and I lied. The Halloween idea was horrible. I kept trying and trying and nothing good came out of it, except a loveable little kitty that I'll probably post later. But I DO have something for today, so chin up.
I had to go back to the list of possiblilities for orange for this. Today's drawing was one I didn't really want to do, but seeing how I was running out of options, I had to draw it.
Even my mom said to do it. So that meant I had to. *Sigh*....I drew the Thing.
I'm sorry, but I hate the Fantastic Four. Really hate them. Out of all the comics I love, they are the red-headed stepchild of the bunch.
The characters are dumb, the stories are crap, the characters are dumb, and .....the characters are dumb -yeah, that's really all I have against them. But...out of Johnny, Sue, and Reed, and Ben, I'd rather stick with Ben. He's the only one who I think is better than the rest of them. Sure they make him a sarcastic grumpy pants, but I can tolerate him more than the others.
So this one was a speed draw, all on the computer. It wasn't as hard as I thought it was and was, admittedly, fun to do. It took me about an hour to do, give or take 5 minutes.
As always, the Blue layer...
That was done really fast as I wanted to get started on the next steps.
Then the inks.
Color and voila!
And the finished product above. I tried adding texture with blending modes, but I gave up and left it alone. It's something I have to experiment again because I lost how to use it. Instead, I tried using some bushes for a rocky texture. Kinda failed, but hey, I finished waaaaaaay before schedule. And I took my Sunday siesta too!
Well, that's it for orange...we hardly knew thee. Oh well! On to the next!
Leave comments! Thanks
Tomorrow: PURPLE
P.S.- It IS "clobbering" right?

COLOR DAYS!!! ORANGE: Day 2
Okay, seriously, I HATE orange. There's nothing you can do with it! It's a terrible loud color (at least I think so) and it doesn't really go with anything. I'm mostly having this meltdown because I can't find something to do for the last ORANGE day.....besides oranges. Ughhhhh!!! I HATE ORANGE!!
That being said, here's a little kid in a tiger costume:
It was all I could think of with this stupid color. A tiger....tiger costume.......heeeeeeeey.
Never mind! I just got some more ideas. Thank you little boy that I randomly drew! Halloween theme it is for the rest of the week, which is one more day.
I like this drawing. It's the first little kid I've drawn in weeks, let alone the first that looks like one (not really, but I'm working on it). Leave comments for me! Thanks!

COLOR DAYS!!! ORANGE: Day 1
Today is the first day of ORANGE week!!!! I don't know why I keep calling them weeks....they're only three days each...
Today is another short post (I really don't have anything to say other than, "Lookit! Look at my picture!") so I won't hold you guys up so long. My friend Laura gave me this one as well. It's a classic character from one of my favorite cartoons. It's Velma, the brainiac from Scooby-Doo, kicking off ORANGE week!
Leave comments, blah, blah, blah. You know the drill. Also, I recently entered into the Skribbles contest on Deviantart. Go check out my entry at: http://cbgeekazoid.deviantart.com/ . It's called DA Scribbles. Thanks you guys!

COLOR DAYS!!! BLUE: Extra Day!
Since I gave you something crappy the first day, I decided to make up with it with, not one, not three, but TWO extra drawings!!! I know, know. I'm so nice.
Anyways, the first one today is a fun one. I love this one! But before I start I need to ask, do any of you know what Monster High is?......No? You don't like dolls anymore? Huh, okay. To explain, Monster High was first a book written by Lisi Harrison and now a series of dolls made by Mattel, y'know the Barbie makers.
These dolls are amazing and a cool twist on the classic monsters from old films and books, all of them being the children of said monsters. There's Frankie Stein:
Clawdeen Wolf:
Lagoona Blue:
Draculaura:
Cleo De Nile:
And my favorite and the one I drew, Ghoulia Yelps:
Ghoulia is hilarious. I can't remember if she's a zombie or a ghoul, but the webisodes (that's episodes on the web) they have usually play with the fact that she's slow. Yet she's the smartest kid in school.
But besides that, she's also blue!! So lets get down to business and see how I did!:
My friend, Laura suggested I draw her and I thank her for the idea (among TONS of others), but this was harder than I expected. Ghoulia has horrible posture and it was hard trying to get it onto paper before I could scan it in to color it. Another favorite. Despite my troubles, I thouroughly enjoyed drawing her.
The second drawing was on whim of "Let's see what I can do better." I went back to my fantasy roots and looked for something that would be challenging and fun for not only me but you guys as well. Thinking, I thought about my WASH sketchbook and how I had once wanted to make something look like a splash of water. I picked it up again and ran with it and got something amazing:
The Lady of the Lake. Arthurian legend is something I rarely touch, but I should. There's a lot of good characters to work with. She was done in 3H pencil first, scanned, inked and colored in Pse. I feel like I may have gone a bit verboard with the colors, but I still feel I did a good job.
These will be featured on my Deviantart account as well if you would like to flip through a "just pictures" collection of my recent work. Thanks for reading! Leave comments! I would really love a critique on my Lady of the Lake. Thanks!
I personally hate her. |
